Tranquility Hill Lodge
Tranquility Hill Bonefish Lodge sits atop a low hill near Behring Point, overlooking the eastern entrance to the North Bight, between North and South Andros Islands, Bahamas. It is here that the legendary Ivan Neymour, one of the pioneers of bonefish on a fly, guided for over 40 years, and here that the Mackey and Neymour families have been welcoming anglers with island hospitality and world-class bonefishing since 1996.Tranquility’s hilltop location not only offers a panoramic view across the bight, with wading flats directly in front of the lodge, but also gives anglers easy access to hundreds of square miles of spectacular sand flats, mangrove cays, sheltered bays and winding creeks, all teeming with bonefish.
ANDROS ISLAND is the premiere Bonefishing destination in The Bahamas. Located 150 miles southeast of Miami, Andros is surrounded by the best saltwater flats habitat on the planet. The North Bights are the heart of this famous fishery. TRANQUILITY HILL FISHING LODGE is ideally situated on a bluff at Behring Point, overlooking the eastern entrance to the North and Middle Bights of Andros. This vast fishing area sprawls over hundreds of miles and is composed of winding channels and creeks, lush mangrove cays, and countless miles of sandy flats stretching to the fertile waters of the West Side. Unlike other areas, the Andros bights experience tidal changes from both east and west, thereby insuring constantly moving water somewhere in the bights to find feeding Bonefish. While fish abound in the bights all year, it is from late November through January that pods of bones move from the west side to the east to spawn, making it possible to sight cast to schools of a few up to hundreds of fish as they streak past. Throughout the season casting to 5 to 8-pound fish, often swimming alone or in pairs, is a frequent occurrence, while February is well known as the best month for shots at double-digit bones. If you’re looking for BIG Bonefish, Andros is THE place to take your shot. In addition to sight casting to Bonefish, you can pursue Tarpon, Barracuda, Sharks, Jacks and Snappers, and if the weather is calm, make a trip to deeper water for Wahoo and Dorado. Even excursions to the wild and rarely fished West Side of Andros can be scheduled. If you are an expert looking for shots at big fish or a beginner wanting to hook up your first bone, Tranquility is your place. |
